Disposal Methods of European Beachgrass at the Friends of the Dunes

Abstract:
Friends of the dunes is actively removing European beach grass on their property, however they have not found a suitable disposal method that fits their purpose and need. In our study we have quantified the amount of biomass and embedded energy they have available on their property. In conclusion we assessed the options for disposing of Ammophila on a basis on sustainability to further provide appropriate disposal methods for biomass.
Problem Statement:
European beach grass at friends of the dunes is removed frequently and burned, or been shipped off to a land fill. They desire to find a more sustainable end use for this invasive grass.
