Abstract:
This project seeks to set the groundwork for the implementation of strategies to reduce the carbon footprint of the parking services at Cal Poly Humboldt. This requires analyzing several vehicle alternatives to replace current vehicles used by the parking services to see which ones will meet the goal of reducing carbon emissions while also catering to the needs of the parking services. This paper explains our process in evaluating this situation and our analysis of vehicles. The goal is that this will be used to facilitate the actual implementation of the project in the near future. We started out looking at the Hydrogen fueling station and looking at a possible way to link it with the campus needs, but ended up focusing more on the problem of parking services emissions. Utilizing the hydrogen fueling station on campus was still incorporated as one possible solution.
Problem Statement:
Parking services produces carbon dioxide with a fuel intensive vehicle with a relatively small range to travel.
