Abstract:
Capstone project analyzing the contemporary and historic greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation associated with Cal Poly Humboldt. Sought to foster compliance with California Assembly Bill 32 and CSU Executive Order 987. Examined ground and air vehicle operations and mileages in order to determine whether or not a significant difference exists between the level of emissions in 1990 and the level of emissions in contemporary times
Problem Statement:
In 2006, the California government passed Assembly Bill 32, also known as the Global Warming Solutions Act This bill was designed to combat climate change by mandating the reduction of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by the year 2020. In order to comply with the regulations imposed by” AB 32” the California State University (CSU) system responded by drafting and implementing a policy of its own, Executive Order 987.
