This project is an exploration of zero waste efforts in Arcata, CA. We prepared a survey for residents, which was conducted with an iPad outside five grocery stores throughout the city. The survey has nine simple questions about personal practices concerning waste habits. The goal of our survey and report is to provide the City and other organizations working towards zero waste in Arcata with a better understanding of residents’ habits and receptivity to education. The survey did not yield conclusive results due to small sample size. However, we believe that with improvements an accurate representation of the residents of Arcata can be gathered.
