The Natural Resources building at Cal Poly Humboldt serves as a hub for students involved in the Environmental Protection and Environmental Science programs.

For our Capstone Project, we worked with The Friends of the Dunes (FOD) to collect information and data about the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center’s (HCNC) natural landscaping program to compile into a living document.

The Jacoby Creek, located in Bayside California, is the site for the proposed mitigation bank. The site was home to logging for several decades, which has altered some of the landscape and surrounding wildlife.

Development of a restoration plan for the area designated as wetlands located on the Dow's Creek property owned by the Mckinleyville Land Trust.

This document identifies a small portion of the mad river bluff property, located within the mckinleyville land trust, targeted for ecosystem restoration primarily through the thinning of trees.

This group investigates alternative actions that would decrease the prevalence of invasive ivy in Luffenholtz county park. This group carried out a vegetation survey and were able to successfully implement restoration measures.

An overall work plan on the removal of ivasive plant species from Luffenholtz County Park, aimed at restoration and promoting native plants within the ecosystem. Primary methods included are manual removal and active revegetation methods.

Cal Poly Humboldt (Humboldt) is often characterized as having and encouraging an environmentally conscious culture. However, these attitudes are not reflected in the campus landscaping which is housing many of the known invasive plants of California.

Headwaters Forest Reserve has several stands of second growth trees that are too dense. By having an excess of trees closely spaced, stands become overly competitive therefore limiting growth.
